East Sussex Sunday Cross Country Races for 2011-2012

Oct.16th Whitbread Hollow
Nov. 13th Warren Hill
Dec. 11th Firle
Dec. 18th Plumpton
Jan. 8th Pett Levels
Jan. 29th Ashdown Forest, organised by Crownborough Runners
Feb. 12th Snape Wood, Wadhurst

We have done our best to make them as soon as possible to minimise clashes with spring marathon training, but as usual we have had to try to avoid clashes with other local races. This year there is one new local course at Wadhurst (and refreshments in the pub afterwards while the results are worked out and prizes handed out).
For those of you who have not run these before, they are all about 5 miles long and the courses vary from hard to very hard with plenty of hills, mud and wind (sometimes all three on the same course). Crowborough make a joint team with Wadhurst and we need 15 to count (10 men and 5 women) so a large turnout is great and everyone can contribute. Your best four races in the season count for the individual prizes. Juniors run a 1 to 1½ mile course. Senior races start at 11am and juniors at 10:30am.
You can enter on the day (£3 for Crowborough seniors, free for Crowborough juniors, £2 extra for any unattached runner) but as for last season, club members can register in advance for all races for a fee of £12.50 which not only saves money if you are going to run more than 4 races, but also means you avoid having to queue (often in the cold) to register for each race.
However if you want to register for all races, you need to tell Roger Stone by Wednesday 5th October and send payment (cheques to "ESSXCL", cash or direct debit if you prefer).
Last season the Crow/Waddie team came third and we had 4 individual prizes. We hope we can do even better this season.'
